CIRI Automobile Technology Institute (China Insurance Research Institute - Automobile Technology Institute) is initially established by Insurance Association of China on March 2015. CIRI is headquartered in Beijing and its main shareholders include Insurance Association of China and the Top 8 China’s general insurance companies and Jingyou Times. These shareholders increased the investment and shares in the Beijing ZBY Automobile Technology Institute and transformed it to CIRI. CIRI has been officially accepted as full member of RCAR (Research Council of Automobile Repairs) since January 2016. Acting a role as the only research institute specializing on the insurance related automobile technologies, CIRI holds a position of the only ‘not for profit’ motor insurers funded research organization in China. CIRI’s duty and responsibility are to serve the insurance industry and the social affairs. The establishment of CIRI is a commencement of motor insurers’ involvement into the industry chain of automotive industry, as well as an outstanding milestone of development of motor insurance industry. CIRI will remain its open cooperative attitude towards international interchange of knowledge, experiences and research outcomes with RCAR and its members and keep playing an active role as an essential port for international cooperation among China’s and global motor insurers, OEMs, research organizations and other relating service providers.
