The Exuberant Theatre Company

The Exuberant Theatre Company are artists passionate about lifting the spirits of human beings through celebratory act of theatrical performance. We believe that theatre and film are restorative, purifying, and unifying media. The Exuberant Theatre Company was born in 2017 when physical theatre actor Sean A. Mulvihill moved from Torino, Italy to New York City. His only worldly possessions were two real suitcases of clothes, one 'clown' suitcase for his solo clown show "Velo," and one Yamaha acoustic guitar. His first order of business: teach and perform clown with the actors of NYC. After a successful clown collaboration with physical theatre company The Ume Group, Mulvihill started the Exuberants Improv Comedy Team, which had a weekly improv comedy show at the Broadway Comedy Club for two years, ending in March 2020. Currently, the Exuberants can be seen touring the tri-state area performing "Your Life: Improvised!" at private parties and events. During the pandemic, Exuberant Theatre Company stayed afloat with funding from The Actor's Fund, the state of New York, and other charitable organizations with the mission to assist artists. In 2020, we also developed a partnership with non-profit NGO Hello Future, developing arts curricula for displaced Syrian refugee teens in Iraq. In 2021, The Exuberant Theatre Company's documentary feature film about applied improvisation, Act Social, won the "Film Heals" Award at the Manhattan Film Festival. The film, directed by Sean A. Mulvihill, stars legendary actor/improv comedian Colin Mochrie.
