Since 1996, Maybo has made a genuine contribution to the development of international standards in violence reduction and conflict management training, consistently raising the bar in training provision and supporting charitable organisations and volunteers that face risk when trying to help others. To spread the benefits of its leading conflict management training further afield, Maybo opened an office in South Australia a little over three years ago. The training model has travelled well, exceeding expectations. The pattern of business has generally followed the UK market with the health, care and security sectors becoming more pronounced. One area of opportunity is the work we are doing in aged care. In an exciting project the Illawarra Retirement Trust (IRT) will be rolling out the Maybo conflict management and assault avoidance training, to staff who have over 6,000 people under their care. This work will be the subject of research work with Professor Richard Fleming from the dementia study unit at Wollongong University.
