The European Society for Molecular Imaging represents and advocates “IMAGING SCIENCE” as an important resource for the development of new imaging technologies, as a motor for advancing innovative methodological concepts to validation studies as well as supporting the translational process of taking innovation into the clinical environment. ESMI represents an international, academic community of imaging scientists. The ESMI serves the basic imaging science community and clinical subspecialties focusing on experimental research using imaging modalities and stimulates interdisciplinary research. Central to the mission of ESMI is the transfer of knowledge from experimental imaging studies to the understanding of translational therapeutic strategies. The society provides educational support and programmes to junior and senior scientists to promote the application of state-of-the-art experimental imaging techniques into the life sciences. ESMI is an independent, non-profit, and apolitical society providing a platform for knowledge exchange and co-operation for the interdisciplinary community of imaging scientists.
