RedHeads Wine
www.redheadswine.comRedHeads Wines is based in Angaston, Barossa and focuses on sustainability and minimal intervention. Wines are made in small batches using a wide range of eclectic varieties and blends to showcase differentiation and individuality, allowing the true character of the grape varieties to show through in the wines. A newly built 500-tonne winery was opened in 2019 with sustainability at the core. Working hand in hand with the Environmental Protection Agency to achieve a multifaceted vision, RedHeads was, in 2019, awarded the Drinks Business UK Green Award for its water management. RedHeads collects around 2,7000,000L rainwater and wastewater every year and shares it around the vineyard, storing it in a white-lined, onsite dam with a capacity of 3.8 mega-litres. The winery and cellar door are wired to run entirely from solar and battery with the aim to be 100% off-grid in the not to distant future. RedHeads uses all local trades and sources as much as possible, including glass bottles and coffee for cellar door, locally, to minimise transport and overall carbon footprint. Wines are vegan friendly! Winner of the 2019 Drinks Business UK Green Award for Water Management Commendation at the 2020 Drinks Business UK Green Awards for Power Management Winner of the Environmental Excellence Award at the 2021 South Australian Wine Industry Awards
