The Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Neurosciences is a world class institution directed by Prof. Dr. Ricardo B. Maccioni. The lab is at the forefront of major discoveries in cell biology of the neuronal cytoskeleton and in biomedicine, specifically in the area of neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s disease. Throughout our history we have laid the foundations of the role that tau protein in the pathogenesis of this disease, one of the first groups worldwide to propose the theory of tau protein dysfunction, as well as the idea that neuroimmunomodulation also plays a role key in the pathogenesis of this disease.
