Founded in 2016 by Matt Kibbe and Terry Kibbe, Free the People specializes in video production, creative storytelling, and social media engagement. We are building a community of people who believe in the values of freedom, entrepreneurship, individual responsibility, choice, and peaceful cooperation. Free the People’s mission is simple—to make the values of liberty entertaining, accessible, and human. We deliberately explores issues that bridge the partisan divide—topics like criminal justice reform, health care choice, and opposing corporate cronyism. We produce documentary films, video web series, and podcasts that illuminate the people and ideas changing the world for the better. We reach audiences across the political spectrum as a rational but passionate voice for liberty. Free the People has a highly engaged community of nearly 2 million people across our brands and social channels. 75% of people reached by our content are under the age of 45. Our average view duration on YouTube is an astounding 12:31 minutes. We have become a lifestyle brand for our community, with merchandise available in our Shop—including stickers, posters, books, and apparel. Our community also extends to film festival attendees across the country. Free the People documentaries have been featured in—and taken home awards at—numerous film festivals since 2018.
