Founded in 1922, Holmwood House is a thriving independent co-educational preparatory school for children aged 4 to 13 years. Located in Lexden, just two miles from the centre of Colchester, Essex, in 34 acres of beautiful grounds, the school’s extensive facilities offer its pupils unrivalled opportunities, including a swimming pool, science labs, cookery room, music, dance and drama facilities, state-of-the-art sports hall, superb sports fields, onsite squash and all-year tennis courts and group sets of iPads. Pupils flourish in small classes, taught by subject specialists from Year 4 upwards, with the addition of Latin in Year 6, and demonstrate excellent academic progress appropriate to their age and ability.
