Pivô
www.pivo.org.brPivô is a non-profit cultural association providing a platform for the artistic experimentation of artists, curators, researchers, students and the general public. Since 2012, we have established our position as one of São Paulo’s key venues for contemporary art exhibitions and content production. At Pivô, artists and curators are encouraged to respond — formally and conceptually — to the specificities of the institution’s architecture and context, carrying out projects that would be unlikely in different circumstances. Away from market pressures and excessively bureaucratic frameworks, Pivô is a place where experiments come to fruition through exhibitions, commissioned projects, workshops, art-residencies and public programs with artists at different stages in their careers and from different nationalities. Located in the iconic Copan building — designed by Oscar Niemeyer — Pivô is open, accessible and free. Around 5 thousand people live and work in Copan. As well as the potential of the local audience, this urban region is concentrated by a great diversity of people, who can easily access the venue by public transport.
