The Problem Product developers are working tirelessly to design better devices and technologies for patients. However, innovative products are often prevented from reaching patients due to funding shortages at critical stages. While these early-stage developers have often contributed their personal funds, raised funds from “friends and family”, and received funding from angel investors, this funding is insufficient for stages such as FDA review, initial production and distribution. These developers are often small and lack sufficient cash flow or a proven track record. They do not meet the criteria required by many angels, VCs, or even double bottom line investors.
