De Karate-do Bond Nederland behartigt de belangen van de ruim 220 aangesloten karatescholen en ongeveer 9.000 individuele leden. De KBN is officieel erkend lid van NOC*NSF en Internationaal aangesloten bij de EKF en de WKF. De World Karate Federation (WKF) is de officiële mondiale karate organisatie en wordt nu door de Internationale Olympische Commissie erkend. Meer dan 50 miljoen karateka’s zijn verspreid over 160 landen lid van de WKF. Het filosofische / pedagogische aspect van karate is t.o.v. de wedstrijdontwikkeling ten volle behouden.
