Frameworks of Tampa Bay

Have you ever asked yourself the simple question – how well do I manage my emotions on a daily basis? In today’s rapidly changing world there are many challenges that impact our ability to act appropriately in any personal or professional situation. We would like to think that we handle these obstacles well all the time, but how well we really do is a different story. How important is developing social and emotional skills of our children? It is critical and it is our priority. Our mission is to empower educators, youth services professionals, and parents and guardians with training, coaching, and research-based resources to equip youth with emotional intelligence skills. At Frameworks, we teach kids to effectively handle the pressures of growing up. We deliver our programs through partnerships with schools and other youth-serving nonprofits. Our emotional intelligence professional development teaches youth to be self and socially aware, how to manage strong emotions, how to make responsible decisions, how to have empathy for others, and gives them the communication and conflict resolution skills they need to build healthy strong relationships throughout their lives. Research shows that teaching these skills boosts children's academic performance, social skills, and life success. Possessing high emotional intelligence enhances academic success and health/well-being while preventing risky behaviors, truancy, and bullying. Organizational History Frameworks of Tampa Bay, Inc., formerly the Ophelia Project and Boys' Initiative, was founded as the Ophelia Project in 2002 to address issues for girls, and was headquartered at the YMCA of Tampa Bay. The Boys' Initiative was added in 2006 for concerns specific to boys. The organizations merged in 2007 to form OPBI, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. On April 7, 2011, the organization announced its new name, Frameworks of Tampa Bay Inc. along with a new mission.
