Tuscany, one of the foremost Italian wine regions, has among its areas of excellence the cattle growing Maremma region, extending along the Tyrrhenian coast. Tenuta Casteani, represents one of the most prestigious wineries in this corner of Tuscany. Founded in 2002 by dedicated and passionate winemaker Mario Pelosi. The property comprises 80 hectares of which 15 makeup its vineyards. Intensely flavored vines have historically been cultivated in this region, due to the strong fertile nature of its historic clay soil. The mild Mediterranean climate, tempered by the neighboring sea throughout the year, prevents drastic climatic changes. The Maremma region’s warm and stable microclimate is enhanced by sea breezes that cool the grapes during the hottest summer days. Spring rains in this region promote a superior and healthier ripening of the grapes, giving the wine greater concentration and perfumes.
