Ohr is a Tanzanian startup that trades in fast moving consumer goods made from locally sourced raw materials for a cause. At Ohr we believe that when girls are unable to go to school or have to discontinue with their education, they lose the opportunity to get quality future formal employment. Therefore, the company’s main focus is to empower African girls in realizing their dreams. This is achieved by dedicating 40% of all of its profits to provide access to education to underprivileged girls who are unable to attend conventional schools. To ensure sustainability, the company’s business model is structured in such a way that it supporting the cause is not dependent on donor funding but by revenue obtained by providing goods and services that meet consumer needs.
