Regional Electoral Court of Piauí
www.tre-pi.jus.brThe Regional Electoral Court of Piauí (TRE-PI) is an organ of the Federal Judiciary Branch and its main activity is to conduct the electoral process, from the registration of voters, operation of the elections to the judgment of matters relating to electoral legislation. TRE-PI, headquartered in the Capital and with jurisdiction throughout the State, is composed of seven Members (Federal Constitution, art. 120, §1 and TSE Resolution No. 21.461/2003): - Two judges among the judges of the Court of Justice; - Two judges, among Judges of Law, chosen by the Court of Justice; - A Federal Judge chosen by the Federal Regional Court of the First Region; - Two judges among six lawyers of notable legal knowledge and moral integrity, appointed by the President of the Republic, appointed by the Court of Justice. The Regional Electoral Attorney, together with his/her substitute, will be appointed by the General Electoral Attorney, from among the Regional Attorneys of the Republic in the State, or, where there is none, among the lifetime Attorneys of the Republic, for a term of two years (Supplementary Law No. 75/1993, Art. 76).
