www.cfrf.orgBy 2020, 65% Percent of jobs in the United States are projected to require a post secondary education that will lead to credentials, certifications and degrees. With increasing global competition, Arizona’s investment in human talent will have a direct bearing on future economic prosperity and quality of life. MISSION Checkered Flag Run is to provide diverse educational programs that impact under-served students. Our belief is access to quality educational opportunities ensures the investment of every student getting to cross the “finish line”. OBJECTIVES: - Develop and invest in education, specific to school readiness tools, and multiple career pathways to increase career aspirations that drive Arizona’s workforce - Raise awareness and increase student, and parent knowledge and involvement in diverse educational opportunities that have a positive and impact on educational attainment - Promote diverse learning experience for students that support necessary 21st century skills A high school diploma is increasingly becoming a minimum requirement for even entry-level positions. 2012, Manpower study shows not enough students graduate from high school- 78 percent of Arizona students graduate but struggle to get jobs that enable economic self-sufficiency. And those who choose a post-secondary option are unprepared for college and the workforce. Students aren’t gaining the critical thinking, communications, and problem solving skills need to succeed in the real world. These challenges impact Arizona businesses’ ability to find qualified talent in an increasingly competitive economy. Without a strong education system in place, the U.S. will struggle to innovate and out-compete our peers (Manpower, Talent shortage survey, 2012). It is critical that Arizona emerges from the Great Depression with an education system that provides skills and credentials Arizonans need to achieve their individual potential and meet the rising challenge of global competition.
