Bye Radon, a young company focused on making of the world a better and safer place, has joined the fight against this hazardous gas through the development of the unique IoT sensor solution to measure radon gas in long-term and real time. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and some research studies, like the one form the University of Calgary, short-term kits are not effective when measuring radon due to the variability of radon concentration. Radon levels can vary during the course of the year; winter and spring season being the ones when the highest concentration is normally detected, and therefore the most dangerous. But the levels can also differ within the same month, and even the same day, making it essential to register continuous measurements in real-time. With access to this data, mitigation actions can be carried out when necessary allowing protection against this mortal danger 365 days a year, and not only when measurements are taken. The European Commission and the WHO estimate that 20,000 deaths yearly are caused by radon inhalation in Europe and 21,000 in the United States.
