CAUSES – EARLY DETECTION - REMEDY Abrasive wear in industrial plants is generally encountered in those areas where bulk solids are exploited, transported, treated, processed or stored. During the transport, treatment and processing, the plant components may also suffer corrosive stresses due to moisture and aggressive media. As the properties of the bulk solids cannot be influenced, a reduction of the wear can mainly be achieved via the factors „material", „constructive design“ and „service conditions“. The latter factors are often customer specified, hence the aim should be to realistically optimize these already during the planning stages of a new plant. The combination of support and wear protection material has frequently proved to be a very cost-efficient solution.
