www.nid.ac.inThe National Institute of Design Andhra Pradesh is established in September 2015 as an autonomous Institute under the DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It is situated temporarily in Acharya Nagarjuna University on Guntur - Vijayawada highway (NH 16) as a transit campus before moving to permanent campus to come up in 50 acres site in ‘Amaravati’, new Capital City of Andhra Pradesh. It is the first NID to set up in accordance with the National Design Policy, approved by Parliament in 2007 for establishing four new NID’s across the country after the five decades of the existence of National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. The Rajya Sabha (State Assembly of India) passed the National Institute of Design (Amendment) Bill, 2019 which declares the four National Institutes of Design (NID) in Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, and Haryana as institutions of national importance. The amended NID act empowered NID Andhra Pradesh to offer 4 years of Bachelor of Design (B.Des) at per with NID Ahmedabad. Also in immediate future to offer specialised Master in Design (M.Des), Philosophy in Design and Applied Design Research from NID Andhra Pradesh campus.
