Informatix Australia (formerly North Queensland Information Management Solutions) was formed in 1997 by Lawrence to meet the information management needs of health service providers in North Queensland. The service provided was all about assisting general practitioners and specialists to choose a practice and clinical management system that would meet their needs in managing the health information of their patients, whilst not slowing down or interfering with the consultation processes. It soon became apparent that whilst assisting clinicians to choose the right applications to suit the business and clinical needs of the practice, the service needed to also maintain the infrastructure and assist in the day to day “how do I” situations that arise from changes in procedures or workflow within the practice. Today Informatix Australia provides services across Australia based on this holistic solutions philosophy. Our client base consists of over 50 health service entities from single practitioner practices to large multi-site practices. We are not linked to any Medical Software Company, as we believe that different practices have different needs, however we do have strong links with the support teams of the mainstream applications such as BP Software, Genie, HCN, Houston, IntraHealth and ISoft, so that if we do not know the answer, or some functionality is missing or not functioning we can liaise on your behalf for a better end result without all the back and forth between hardware and software vendors. Because we believe in the complete electronic record, we specialise in remote access and web services technologies that allow for secure access to your health records regardless of where you are, and provide remote support for Australia’s largest secure messaging provider. We actively work with vendors to assist them to bring integrated secure messaging to market so that it will follow not only the Australian Standard for HL7 properly, but that the workflows in the practice make sense and are not placing undue stress on the end user. In short, the entire Informatix Australia team believes in the principle that uninterrupted and efficient access to a complete patient health record – anytime, anywhere – is the foundation of better health care. Because it’s not really about the computer, or the clinical management system you use, it’s all about patient care.
