MUCESS - Melbourne University Chemical Engineering Students Society
www.mucess.orgThe Melbourne University Chemical Engineering Students Society (MUCESS) is the official faculty-based student-run body for Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering students at the University of Melbourne. MUCESS is affiliated with the University of Melbourne Student Union (UMSU). Established in 1960 to foster a sense of belonging and connection amongst Chemical Engineering students, the club has maintained this sense of community through various social events including an annual Cocktail Night, regular lunchtime events and occasional trivia nights. MUCESS also contributes to the career and academic needs of students through organising an annual Industry Event and electing student representatives to provide input at Student-Staff Liaison Committee Meetings. As MUCESS is a not-for-profit organisation, to complement the income from student membership fees and UMSU grants, sponsorship is the main source of income and allows the club to run social and informational events throughout the year. Sponsors are invited to attend the Industry Event in Semester 1 as an opportunity to showcase opportunities for students, meet talent, and promote their company. Membership to MUCESS is open to all students and costs $5.
