Terrier Motorsport is Boston University’s premier Formula SAE team, competing in the Formula Hybrid design series in the electric category. We are tasked with designing and manufacturing our own all-electric formula-style race car ready to compete at the Formula Hybrid+Electric competition at New Hampshire Motor Speedway each May. Our team consists of 6 Sub-Teams: Aerodynamics and Bodywork, Electrical, Powertrain, Project Management, Suspension and Chassis, and Wheels. Each sub-team has its projects that contribute to the team running smoothly and completing our car; you can find some of their work showcased here, on our website, or on our Instagram! Team members are responsible for conducting design work based on Formula Hybrid+Electric rules, requirements, and internal team objectives. Members regularly use Solidworks for modeling, FEA, and producing design drawings. Many members also conduct CFD analysis on aerodynamic components using Ansys. Terrier Motorsport is not only for Engineering students but anyone interested in applying the skills they learn in class to use or even learning new ones! In fact, in 2022, about 30% of members are from the College of Art and Science, and 15% are from the Questrom School of Business Even though having a successful competition is our end goal, our primary focus is to give our members a fun engineering and team experience to prepare for their futures in the workforce. If you are interested in working with us or joining our team, feel free to message us at butm@bu.edu. If you are a Boston University student and interested in joining the team, reach out to us at butm@bu.edu, or fill out our New Recruit Form on Instagram using your BU email. We will be at Boston University's student organization fair: Splash in early September and January. Be sure to stop by and say hello!
