UKCeB - Secure Collaboration across Team Defence
www.ukceb.netNB: in addition, in LinkedIn, there is a members' group: search for UK Council for Electronic Business and apply to join UKCeB is a trusted membership organisation whose mission is to transform secure information sharing for through life collaboration in defence acquisition and support. Ours is a 'team sport' - developing, promoting and practising excellence in secure collaboration across the defence enterprise; one that requires active engagement from organisations that are part of the collective supply chain / support network, including the Ministry of Defence (MOD). UKCeB provides a working forum for these Team Defence activities, focused on enabling organisations to share information securely ‘across the boundaries’. Members work collectively to improve the common good, to align business practices, processes and standards so that information can flow freely - yet in controlled and audited manner that meets regulatory compliance. Information is the lifeblood of the defence enterprise. Ensuring a secure, well-managed flow is fundamental to healthy, mutually profitable business interactions - whether processing invoices, managing inventory levels, gaining agility, facilitating innovation or a myriad of other business functions. Frictional costs arise from 'dis-jointed' information flows and processes, such re-keyed data and users having multiple log-ins. UKCeB activities seek to remove friction in secure information sharing. "The only constant is change" and UKCeB organises its activities with reference to a regular review of business drivers and priorities in a governance structure that reports to the Defence Suppliers Forum. UKCeB includes representation from two significant trade bodies: ADS has over 900 members in the Aerospace, Defence and Security sector, and techUK whose members include suppliers of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) capabilities. UKCeB's focus on secure collaboration across Team Defence complements ADS and techUK activities and all three organisations are well-connected. UKCeB member interests include improving 'through-life' aspects of contracting, especially the information requirements for support which are key to the activities of both the Joint Information Group and the Defence & Industry Support Chain Optimisation Group (DISCOG) within UKCeB. Increasingly, MOD is outsourcing its services to Industry with more contracts shaped around meeting service provisions rather than, say, around hardware defined by tight specifications.
