The International Book Project promotes literacy and educational opportunities by providing more than 200,000 books to schools, libraries, churches, and Peace Corps Volunteers throughout the developing world every year. The International Book Project is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization created in 1966 by Harriet Van Meter. We send books by the: Mail-bag - 35-pound boxes of books that can go anywhere with a postal address. They cost $200 to send. Sea Container - 20-foot or 40-foot containers that travel by sea, carrying 10,000-20,000 books. They cost $10,000 to send.
