The Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS) promotes evidence-based solutions to achieve safe transport for all. Formally established in 1982, its founder members were responsible for the legislation which made it compulsory to wear seat belts in the fronts of cars in Britain. The unique features of PACTS are that it is a multi-modal transport safety body and focuses on working with UK parliamentarians, government, professionals and other key stakeholders. It is independent and has no financial or sectoral interests. PACTS is a charity with over 100 member organisations – our partners – who are all committed to improving safety for people on our roads, railways and when flying. Members provide PACTS with technical and business insights, advice and support. We assist them through our information, events, networking and more.
