We are a charitable trust that works to partner with private landowners to protect natural and cultural heritage sites on their land with covenants. A covenant is a contract between us and the landowner that protects the land forever. The landowner continues to own and manage the covenanted land, and the land is forever protected. We have partnered with landowners to register 4,400 covenants. These covenants protect more than 180,000 ha of private land - and play a hugely critical role as a refuge for some of New Zealand’s rarest and most endangered biodiversity and ecosystems.
