Public Institution Biokovo Nature Park is founded in 1998 by the Republic of Croatia and is responsible for the management of Biokovo Nature Park. Public Institution Biokovo Nature Park performs a number of activities with the aim to ensure maintenance and enhancement of nature protection and conservation of the area, while at the same time promoting the features of the Park through the responsibility for reception of visitors and implementation of different educational activities. In cooperation with stakeholders, Institution develops the guidelines for sustainable use of 19 330 hectares of the Biokovo mountain. At the same time, Public Institution manages three Natura 2000 sites which overlap and are in the contact zone beyond the borders of the Biokovo Nature Park. Also, data collection and monitoring (e.g. species, habitats) is being done in the cooperation with scientists and experts in various fields.
