AIDS Response Effort, Inc. (ARE) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that provides crucial healthcare information and compassionate care for those impacted by HIV/AIDS, homelessness, and human service needs in the Northern Shenandoah Valley Region. Our staff provides medical and non-medical case management services, HIV and syphilis testing, housing services, mental health services, transportation services, and prevention, education, and outreach programs. Without ARE, those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and homelessness living in the Lord Fairfax Health District # 7 (LFHD7) would receive limited help with financial and supportive services directly related to their disease or circumstance(s). ARE has made tremendous progress in education, research, treatment, and in removing the stigma of HIV/AIDS. Much work still remains to be done. We can all take the necessary steps to make today’s world more informed and more understanding of what living HIV positive is all about. We must continue supporting those affected while continuing to educate the community to fight stigma against HIV and AIDS.
