Zambia Metrology Agency is a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry (MCTI) established by the Metrology Act No 6. of 2017. The Agency has an overall mandate of maintaining national measurement standards, prescribing the system of measurement units, protecting consumers and promoting health, safety and environmental management through the provision of appropriate Metrology services. The mandate and services include: (i) Maintenance of national measurement standards; (ii) Calibration Services to Industry; (iii) Measurement Traceability to international Standards; and (iv) Training and Consultancy. (v) Type-approval of weighing and measuring instruments; (vi) Verification and inspection of trade instruments; (vii) Inspection of declared quantities of prepacked commodities; and (vii) Handling all complaints related to trade measurements
