The ICC Canada Arbitration Committee’s mission is to promote the interests of Canadian businesses involved in international arbitration, Canadian arbitration practitioners and arbitrators practising in Canada and abroad, and Canada as a seat for international arbitration. Myriam Seers (Savoie Laporte, Toronto) is our Chair, and Craig Chiasson (BLG, Vancouver) is our Vice-Chair, for the October 2022-October 2024 term. We are Canada’s liaison with the ICC Court of Arbitration and its Secretariat. Our nominations commission nominates Canadian arbitrators for ICC arbitrations when requested by the Secretariat. Our member Todd Wetmore (Three Crowns, Paris) is a Vice-President of the Court. Two of our members, Andrew de Lotbinière McDougall (White & Case, Paris) and Julie Bédard (Skadden, New York) are members of the ICC Court of Arbitration. Twelve of our members are members of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. Our member Marek Krasula is Director, Arbitration and ADR, North America for SICANA, the North American branch of the ICC Court of Arbitration’s Secretariat. In addition to our activities with the ICC, we: 🔹 conduct outreach to educate Canadian businesses and corporate counsel on international arbitration and arbitration clauses; 🔹provide thought leadership concerning international arbitration in Canada; and 🔹foster a strong international arbitration community in Canada and involving Canadian arbitration practitioners abroad through our annual conference, mentoring networks and monthly social events and webinars.
