Relevium, Latin for “Relief”, is organized under the Maryland Annotated Code, Corporations and Associations §§5-6C-01 – 5-6C-08, as a Maryland Benefit Corporation. As a benefit corporation, Relevium has a specific purpose to create a material positive impact on society and the environment through affordable housing. Relevium considers the impact of our decisions not only on shareholders, but also on our employees, community, and the environment. Our accomplishments will be promoted to the public through our annual benefit report that assesses our overall social and environmental performance against a third party standard. The intent of Relevium is to provide a way for residents experiencing dramatic reductions in property values to secure relief from high mortgage and penalty payments while permitting them to relocate to a real estate asset acquired by Relevium with options to purchase. With a significant increase in the demand for affordable housing and the supply limited, Relevium has placed our model at an appropriate time in the housing market to provide a leading advantage to homeownership. Relevium’s management has been in the business of assisting families facing the trauma of foreclosure and affordable housing since shortly after the beginning of the collapse of the housing bubble. In that time we have earned a reputation for honesty and community commitment. No organization in America's mid-Atlantic region is better positioned to execute a new model as a benefit corporation for addressing the impacts and opportunities of the foreclosure crisis. Relevium’s experienced and diverse team of real estate, foreclosure, economic and affordable housing experts offers an innovative and creative solution geared towards stabilizing and improving distressed or challenged communities, neighborhoods, families and individuals.
