The BIosphere Reserve is a non-profit organisation that promotes sustainable development of the local communities by bottom-up learning processes. It was designated by UNESCO in 2010 after a five year long development process. Biosphere reserves are bridge-building organisations that link different stakeholders in a strategic way to promote sustainability from local scale to global level.
