American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) - Arklatex Chapter
arklatex.assp.orgOriginally founded in 1911 as the American Society of Safety Engineers, the world’s oldest safety society recently adopted a name change to better reflect the evolution of the health and safety industry and the core membership that constitute its ranks. Now known as the American Society of Safety Professionals, the ASSP strives to “provide education, advocacy, standards development and a professional community to our members in order to advance their careers and the [Occupational Safety and Health] profession as a whole.” This society is comprised of a network of safety professionals (and students) serving nearly every industry imaginable, while influencing current and future standards through leadership positions in governmental and nongovernmental organizations such as federal committees, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and more. The Arklatex Chapter currently has over 140 members connected to more than 37,000 ASSP members worldwide. Locally we have worked to create an environment of professional relationships and genuine friendships that collaborate to share information, insights, experiences, and professional opportunities for the people in our industry.
