GreenPower2020 was founded by Mr ANBAR (the co-founder and former executive vice president of Medgrid) to develop projects within the energy sector including power generation and grid connections within the European Union, South Eastern Mediterranean and Arab countries. GreenPower2020 is the promoter of LEG1 a HVDC Interconnector Submarine Power Cable Project of 2 000 MW capacity extendable to 7 000 MW or more, allowing for electricity exchange between Europe and the South-East Mediterranean Countries. LEG1 is currently n°284 on the European Commission's list of projects TYNDP2016. GreenPower2020 will also promote and build a 2 000 MW concentrated solar plant in North Africa to feed the submarine link. Additional RENEWABLES projects have been proposed to GreenPower2020. These projects are being evaluated and will lead to further On/Offshore developments.
