The Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) is an independent statutory authority with responsibility of managing Victoria's fisheries resources in a coordinated and strategic way to ensure their ongoing sustainability, while supporting the value they deliver to the commercial, recreational and Aboriginal fishing and aquaculture sectors, and the broader community. The VFA works with government and stakeholders to optimise the social, cultural and economic benefits of Victoria’s fisheries and aquaculture industry, while promoting sustainable and responsible practices. The VFA is committed to getting more people fishing and enjoying Victoria’s local seafood, growing healthy and sustainable fishing and aquaculture sectors, and contributing to Victoria’s social and economic prosperity.
