Taylor Electric Cooperative is an electric utility owned by the members it serves and guided by seven cooperative principles. The cooperative serves over 12,000 members in and around Abilene, Texas. The original mission statement of Taylor Electric Cooperative, Inc. was adopted in 1941 in Merkel, Texas. The intent was simple, clear and heartfelt: to help the people who were forgotten by the large and powerful investor-owned electric companies, those from the heartland who needed assistance the most - rural Americans!
