Trauma Practice for Healthy Communities
www.traumapractice.orgTrauma Practice for Healthy Communities (Charitable BN: 756126694RR0001) is a charitable organization dedicated to helping trauma survivors recover whether they are Emergency Responders, First Nations, victims of violence, underprivileged or vulnerable populations, etc. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a debilitating Stress disorder that occurs after exposure to incident(s) of extreme events in which sufferers feel at risk of serious illness, injury, or loss of life. In the course of one's lifetime, in the overall population, PTSD impacts 14-34%, depending on the history. Unfortunately, during our President's, Dr. Anna Baranowsky's, 18+ years of experience working at her private practice, she noticed a growing number of patients seeking help but are unable to receive it because of the lack of specialized services and the expensive cost for accessing these services. As a result, Trauma Practice for Healthy Communities was created. Our vision is to make Trauma Recovery a Possibility for everyone. Our mission is as follows: A. To promote health by providing individuals who are experiencing Psychological Trauma, PTSD, Compassion Fatigue, and any related mental health disturbances, with access to information, group therapy and group support programs; B. To promote health by researching, developing and publicly disseminating self-help resource materials, group programs, and implementation methods for marginalized and/or vulnerable communities experiencing Psychological Trauma or other related mental health disturbances; C. To advance education by conducting research in the field of Psychological Trauma, PTSD, Compassion Fatigue, and any related mental health disturbances, and disseminating the results of the research to the public; and D. To undertake activities ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the above charitable purposes. In short, our Services/Activities include: 1. FREE/Pay-What-You-Can Group Programs dedicated to post trauma growth and recovery. 2. Clinical Research to evaluate the efficacy of new and existing treatment methods for PTSD. 3. Development and dissemination of innovative Self-Help Resources for specific trauma populations.
