Österreichisches Kuratorium für Alpine Sicherheit (ÖKAS) The Austrian Board of Trustees for Alpine Safety As an Austria-wide, independent working platform on alpine issues, the ÖKAS works with an extensive network of its member institutions and experts on an interdisciplinary basis to improve alpine safety, in particular mountain and snow sports. Innovative research approaches and modern prevention strategies are the key to more safety on the mountains. Furthermore the ÖKAS analyzes the occurrence of alpine accidents, evaluates sources of danger in the alpine region and issues statements and recommendations - regardless of any external influences.
