This stately mansion, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1896 by Phineas Lounsbury, the 35th Governor of Connecticut. In 1953, the town acquired the property from the Lounsbury heirs, and it now operates as Ridgefield’s historic Community Center. Lounsbury House provides cultural and philanthropic activities for the benefit of the town, and for private events - all while maintaining the historical integrity of the House & grounds. Private rentals may include the entire mansion and grounds for weddings, birthday parties, reunions, fundraising festivities, art shows, food festivals and more. Upon entering the House, you are greeted in the Main Hall leading to Ballroom, Dining Room, Crystal Room and Kitchen, all located on the main floor. The Grand Staircase leads you to the second level which includes Grand Foyer, The Bridal Room, The Groom’s Room, Conference Room and Meeting Room.
