James W. Morentz, Ph.D., specializes in the development of advanced technologies to improve planning for and response to all types of natural, technological, and terrorist events. He developed the first commercial emergency management software for which he received the 1991 Computerworld Smithsonian Award for “visionary use of information technology.” Since then he has been CEO of technology companies, VP and Director of SAIC’s Public Safety Integration Center, and a member of the Board of Directors of both telecommunications and environmental technology companies. Among his current consulting assignments is the Unified Incident Command and Decision Support (UICDS) program for the Department of Homeland Security.
