SALT is an acronym for Service And Love Together and a young adult non-profit organization that aims to exemplify the character of Christ through relational evangelism, meeting the needs of the community, equipping people for service, and fostering spiritual growth. We currently have one major outreach project: A mobile homeless drop-in center. We provide showers through our four bathroom shower trailer, laundry services through our laundry trailer, clothing and hygiene products through our clothing trailer, haircuts, PPE, and food. We launched our case management program with an LCSW and MSW which started in January of 2021 which consist of assessing need, creating a plan, referring out to other organizations, and holding them accountable to their plans. Our Social Workers also supervise at most six social work interns who help to implement this program. Our goal is, once we provide their basic needs, to refer to other organizations that can continue to empower them on their journey. We also have a partnership with the Coordinated Entry team with the Homeless Services Network which collects data from our unsheltered friends to see if they qualify for housing programs. In 2020, operating roughly three to four days a week from mid-March through the end of the year, we were able to serve a little over 1500 unique unsheltered persons with over 29,000 units of service. We also found that after services with us, through coordinated community effort, about 30% took the next step to end their homelessness and 17% transitioned to shelter or housing. ***SALT Outreach is a grassroots, SDA, young adult led organization***
