Dr. Scott E. Monk was a brilliant Trauma and Critical Care Surgeon who began his career at Cooper Hospital and became the Medical Director at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. His great passion besides family, friends, and exceptional patient care, was education. With this in mind, several years ago, the Monk Family created the Scott E. Monk, DO Scholarship Fund to help offset the skyrocketing costs of medical education. Since 2009, more than $100,000 has been awarded to many outstanding recipients who, with our assistance, were able to complete their medical education more quickly and graduate with less debt. To celebrate Scott’s zest for life and honor his memory and many accomplishments in a unique and fun way, we created the Funky Monk Fish & Music Fest. Each year we enjoy a fantastic evening complete with an optional back bay fishing trip, delicious food, great prizes, live music, etc. held at a beautiful outside venue overlooking the Farley Marina….. at The Deck of the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City. The most recent event in 2019 was moved inside to the beautiful Grand Ballroom, safe and dry from the strong thunderstorms that blew in suddenly. We had a great turnout and lots of fun celebrating friendships old and new while supporting this great cause.
