City Cite's main role is to develop, implement and staff Melbourne CBD based programs for Year 8 and Year 9 students. City Cite aims to take students out of the typical school environment and give them experience in the real world. When initiating city based programs, schools can choose to develop a program from the point of view of one subject discipline or take a multi-disciplinary approach. Both approaches can work and engage students. From our experience a broad based multidisciplinary approach is more likely to take advantage of the rich diversity of city experiences and allow investigation of the connections between different groups in the city. This will usually involve students with others being involved in a significant “Rich Task”.
