Girls on the Run of Central New Jersey (GOTRCNJ) is a 501 (c) 3 physical activity-based positive youth development program dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. Girls learn their worth comes from within, that healthy relationships matter and that they can be a force for good in their community through a fun, experience based curriculum that creatively integrates running. Girls on the Run of Central New Jersey started in 2001 with two sites and 40 girls. Today we serve over 2000 girls in the five counties of Camden, Middlesex, Monmouth, Somerset and Ocean. We provide over 200 scholarships to girls in low income areas annually and host three Girls on the Run 5K races each year. Our Board of Directors come from diverse disciplines, from law to wellness counseling to former Track & Field Olympian. They work vigorously to support the growth and expansion of the GOTRCNJ program and to advocate so all girls, regardless of financial circumstances, can have the opportunity to participate in our program. GOTR has been recognized by the National Afterschool Association (NAA) as one of the most influential after school programs in the country and was recently included in a top Harvard University research-based program in Social-Emotional Learning.
