The future of the appraisal industry is and will always be small, independent, well managed appraisal companies (a.k.a., the independent appraiser). http://www.unitedappraisersofamerica.org/ Up and running in 2011 All AMCs made a fundamental and crucial mistake in their business model by partnering with the Lender rather than the independent appraiser. Lenders, attorneys and retail customers will follow the talent (the independent appraiser). If we don't continually advocate for our collective benefit, who will? It is time we organize and 'take back' our profession. Real estate appraising is and will always be a local expertise. The independent appraiser needs to do more work within their local area. Will I be successful in this endeavor? I don't know. But I do know that I have a strong desire to try. I also know that I can't do it alone; I need your help. Please help.
