This cogeneration plant has been specifically designed to replace coal and lignite with biomass as fossil fuels are phased out in response to climate change legislation and increased demand for renewable energy. The CSCC® is highly efficient, highly flexible and emissions compliant with IED/ LCPD and transforms biomass from a base load fuel into a flexible fuel. As a result, the CSCC® is able to respond to the volatility of intermittent generation and enables increased deployment of these technologies beyond conventional thinking. The CSCC® generates 166MWe and 220MWt in an innovative and proprietary arrangement. As a result, it generates sustainable renewable energy of a size and scale that is meaningful in the context of global climate change. The CSCC® is resilient to location, can provide electricity and heat to local users and enhance local industry. It is a predictable, reliable, responsive, distributed source of energy that will incur minimal network losses. The CSCC® integrates renewable energy technologies that are site dependent (wind, hydro) and those that are integrated to the demand side (residential solar, heat pumps, etc).
