www.cips.orgThe Institute of Purchasing and Supply (IPSA) was a professional institute aimed at the development, promotion and growth of both the profession and professionals in purchasing/procurement/supply chain management in South Africa. The institute offered education programmes, networking, events, knowledge sharing and certification to members. Following a number of years of collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) in Africa, the two organisations decided to combine their strengths for the greater good of the profession in Southern Africa. CIPS Southern Africa was established in January 2010 with members from IPSA in South Africa and CIPS members from five other Southern African countries as the initial membership base. CIPS Southern Africa was successfully launched in April 2010 with fresh infrastructure and and leadership and an expanded team. IPSA's ceased trading at the end of 2009 and its affairs were wound down during 2010 and the company was de-registered.
