International Foundation for Womens Empowerment (IFWE)

www.foundationforwomen.net

The International Foundation for Women’s Empowerment (IFWE) was established in March 2019 in Virginia, USA, and it aims to operate worldwide through chapters and leadership committees, in collaboration with a few UN agencies (UNFPA, UNDP, UN Women) and different local and international NGOs. Our main objective is to empower women and help them thrive both on the personal and professional levels, regardless of nationality and religion. We plan to help women reach their fullest potential and achieve their personal best by identifying the challenges they face, putting action plans to address those challenges, and implementing the action plans via the “Leadership Committees for Women’s Empowerment” that we set up in each country and that we train according to the “Leadership, Organizing and Action: Leading Change” pedagogy developed by Harvard Kennedy School of Government Professor, Dr. Marshall Ganz. We also plan to offer educational scholarships and free relevant empowerment workshops at different locations worldwide or online. We will follow Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs in determining how to help women and which workshops to offer. Although our ultimate objective is to help women thrive and reach high positions of power in their countries, whereby they will slowly positively change the world, we do know that, for that objective to be reached, basic needs need to be fulfilled. So, we will work on helping women with all their needs, from the bottom of the pyramid (Physiological Needs) to its top (Self-Actualization and Transcendence). Moreover, our work with women will be rooted in two different concepts: - The Self-Fulfilling Prophecy / Pygmalion Effect (Rosenthal, 1968) - The Zone of Proximal Development (Vygotsky, 1924).
