The Energy Co-op serves over 2,000 members in Northwestern and Central Vermont. It specializes in delivering heating oil and kerosene, made-in-Vermont wood pellets and providing home heat equipment tune-ups. The Co-op also offers service and installation of high-efficiency heating equipment such as furnaces, boilers and heat pumps. Since its founding in 2000, the Energy Co-op of Vermont has sought to "Help Vermonters make their homes comfortable, healthy, and energy-efficient and to supply members with an optimal mix of cleaner-burning fuels, renewables, and energy efficiency services." In 2014, the Energy Co-op began offering installation and service for cold-climate heat pumps. The Co-op also has an in-house efficiency team that provides energy audits and upgrades so that members can reduce their energy use by sealing air leaks, adding insulation and replacing old, inefficient heating systems.
