The Warton Economic Institute (WEI), formerly named the Shanghai Institute of Economic Development, which was established in 1988, is a well-known think-tank in China to provide a comprehensive, integrated approach to macroeconomy, regional economy and enterprise development. Over the past two decades, the Institute has planned and contributed to a series of major projects related to national strategy, regional development and business growth, and made outstanding contributions to promoting China's economic reform and development.
